Think of any number. multiply it by 2, add 10, divide by 2, and subtract the first number. The answer will always be 5. This works with fractions and decimals too.

Lmao wow. I've realized that most of you that are complaining that this DOESN'T WORK - aren't even doing the math right. I like how you even post your steps to make a point and STILL don't realize that you're wrong. How about you make sure you know what you're talking about before you call something stupid- because now we all know that it's YOU that is stupid. Smh go back to Elementary school and bring a calculator this time because : You Fail.

Right, so the fractions that end in 0.5 are exeptions.

The fact is written poorly. When they say subtract the first number, they mean the number you first picked. It's really easy to show why this will always work... Step 1: x (any number, -infinity to +infinity inclusive) Step 2: (x) * 2 = 2x Step 3: (2x) + 10 = 2x+10 Step 4: (2x+10)/2 = 2x/2+10/2 = x + 5 Step 5: (x + 5) - x = 5 I dare anyone to prove me wrong.

Okayy for phynixphyrr ↑↑ yu up there. Yes im proving you wrongg.. iknow it works on alot of numbers but not on 700 i tried it about 9 times look ↙ 700. 700x2=1400. 1400+10=1410. 1410/2=75. 700-75 is not 5. I did this so many times.. now i want you to try to prove me wrong. Make sure you do it 1st.

All that's actually being done here is that 10 is being divided by 2 which will always equal 5. The other calculations are superfluous smoke and mirrors.

Guys, you are doing your math wrong. Let me explain this better (no offense to the author of the fact). For now, whole numbers. My number will be 7. First we multiply the number by 2. My number is 7, and 7*2 is 14. Now, add 10. 14+10 = 24. Now, we divide our number by 2. 24/2 = 12. Now subtract the very first number we had, 7. 12 - 7 = 5! Proof this works, do your math right guys!

This also works with negative numbers, as in 1111's case. -2*2 = -4. -4+10 = 6. 6/2 = 3. 3-(-2) = 5! PLEASE do your math right and use a calculator if you cant figure this out!! Heres one more just as an example. -433*2 = -866. -866+10 = -856. -856/2 = -428. -428 - (-433) = 5! THIS WORKS WITH ANY AND EVERY NUMBER.

15*2=30 . 30+10= 40. 40/2 = 20. 20 - 15 = 5! It works!

instead of adding 10 in second step..choose any other number the result will be exactly half the number..as in case of 10 it was 5...if u choose 16 it will be 8.. basic mathematics feaure
